Curator Statement

There's a creature that lives on the rocks in Sydney that you can open, and it's a bit like that one in the bottom left of the painting, it's very much like a kind of seafood that you get in France called a violet, a violet, they look like rocks, they don't look like mussels, but once you know what to look for you can cut them open and then you get this incredibly bright colour inside and presumably they would be open you get that same sort of colour underwater. It's the sort of thing that the more you look at it, the more you find.
