Born in New York City, Saturdays NYC is a clothing and lifestyle brand with bases in New York, Japan and Australia, and a history of collaborating with creatives in each community.
Ken's relationship with Japan runs deep, his lasting appreciation for Japanese art and poetry began after first visiting in 1962. His artwork appeared on the cover of Tokyo magazine Hanako every week for over 13 years and a major touring exhibition in 1991 drew over 200,000 visitors, cementing his cultural connection to the country.
“It's been wonderful for us to work with Saturdays NYC in Japan. Seeing my artworks interpreted in new ways for a new market is always thrilling, and I'm especially pleased that they have chosen some of my lesser known paintings for this collaboration. My deep respect for Japanese art and design began with my first visit in 1962 and I look forward to the possibility of new projects and exhibitions in the future.
