On the night of 31 May 1942, three Japanese midget submarines entered the waters of Sydney Harbour and launched a surprise attack that left an indelible mark on Australia’s history.
Ken Done’s powerful and evocative ‘Attack’ suite of works, originally commissioned by the Mosman Art Gallery in 2012 to mark the 70th Anniversary of the event, were shown again in their entirety in 2015 as part of the Home/Front exhibition at the Penrith Regional Gallery to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign.
