Madonna and dog, 2000, acrylic on canvas
National Portrait Gallery, Canberra
4 November 2016 - 13 March 2017
To finish off the year, Ken has had a unique selection of works chosen to appear in a wonderful new group exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.
The Popular Pet Show celebrates our feathered and furry friends and brings together a wonderful group of artists, including Nicholas Harding, Lucy Culliton, Darren McDonald, Anna Culliton, Fiona McMonagle, Noel McKenna, Graeme Drendel, Robyn Sweaney, Kristin Headlam, Shen Jiawei, Jude Rae, William Robinson, Janet Dawson and Davida Allen. Ken has created four paw-traits of his beloved dogs especially for the exhibition.
To accompany the exhibition is a beautiful hard cover publication The Popular Pet Book, written by curator Dr Sarah Engledow;
"With a mum who was married to a tradie, you’d think it a fair chance that the baby Jesus would have grown up with a dog in the house."
